About Me:
Being a human is messy and complex. I believe learning to live with our own thoughts and internal narratives is an ongoing journey.
I completed my undergrad degree at the University of Rochester. I completed a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the Family Institute at Northwestern University in 2013.
I aim to be nonjudgmental in my role as a therapist. My goal is not to “fix” you. I don’t think humans are broken. We live in a system that is broken and often pushes people into operating from survival mode.
I believe psychotherapy is a space that can assist us in slowing down; a space where we can be authentic, sort through our present, unpack our internal dialogue, learn from our past, determine what we value today, and build new patterns.
Originally from New York State, I have years of experience in practicing acceptance of unpredictable weather. I continue to ride the rollercoaster of hope and disappointment with Chicago restaurant attempts to copy New York style pizza. I sustained a stroke and a TBI in my 20s. This taught me the value of finding and holding possibility where we can in our lives.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy coffee, running, weight lifting, and my dog Waffles.
I’ve been told I’m more emapthic than ChatGPT.
Therapy is not a place to perform.
I don’t think therapy is about getting the “A” or the “excellent”. I approach therapy as an ongoing collaborative process. I view my role as helping you decide what narrative you choose to write for yourself. I will support and challenge you in experimenting with new patterns and viewpoints.
The context we live in matters.
I realize the privileges I hold in my identity as a cisgender white woman and in working as a therapist. I am trained in the practice of psychotherapy and you are the expert on your own life. I respect the humility and courage that it takes to start therapy.
Let’s talk fit.
I am licensed to practice in AZ, IL, IN, MA, MI, and WI.
Please feel free to reach out to me. I am happy to schedule a brief 10-15 minute phone conversation to explore working together.
