FAQs

What is my therapeutic approach?

I view therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist. I’m not doing therapy “to you”. I’m doing therapy “with you”.

My training at Northwestern provided a foundation in psychodynamic therapy. However, I’m not interested in just blaming everything on your parents. My experience working in higher levels of care provided me with additional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness. I completed additional training in Somatic Experiencing.

To put it in non therapist speak, I believe our past history influences our present thoughts, emotions, urges, behaviors, and relationships, but does not have to define us. A combination of:

  • increasing our self awareness

  • recognizing what we can and cannot control

  • experimenting with new approaches

    supports us in creating change.

We have prolonged contact with our own minds. I think therapy can assist in fostering a peaceful relationship with our brains.

Every human is different. You and I will work together to determine which approach fits you best.

Are telehealth appointments effective for psychotherapy?

As much as I miss being able to pass clients a box of tissues in person, I value the flexiblity in scheduling that telehealth allows. Additionally, no one has to worry about parking, traffic, the weather, the CTA running on time, or the spread of germs.

You will receive a private personal link for virtual appointments via email and text.

How do I know if you’re a good fit?

Starting therapy is a vulnerable and at times wonky process. I view the first 3-5 sessions as a mutual assessment on the fit of working together. I welcome feedback from clients on how working together feels. If you decide I am not your cup of tea, I am happy to provide referral suggestions to support your therapy journey.

What insurances do you accept?

I am in network with BCBS PPO, Blue Choice PPO, Aetna and United Healthcare insurances.

I am currently in the ongoing process of insurance paneling with Cigna.

What if you don’t accept my insurance?

My out of pocket rates are:

$200 for initial intake sessions

$175 for subsequent appointments.

What are your office hours?

I currently offer appointments Monday through Friday.

I recommend starting with 3-6 sessions of weekly therapy appointments to build traction. However, I understand life happens.

I offer consistent weekly appointments and flexible appointment scheduling. If your life does not allow for appointments at the same time each week, that is something I can accommodate.

Feel free to reach out and see if any of my current openings align with your schedule.

What is your cancellation & rescheduling policy?

I have a 24 hour cancellation & rescheduling policy. I ask that you reach out directly via email or phone to cancel or reschedule an appointment 24 hours in advance. If not, you will be charged a $160 fee.

I acknowledge that injury, illness, and unexpected crisis may happen and will be flexible in these instances.
